Chris Coxon

Chris started his career as a science student at Canterbury University…

It wasn’t long however, before he realised that his growing juggling hobby was actually far more enjoyable than his university studies!

Graduating with a BSc in Biochemistry, Chris immediately became New Zealand’s most over-qualified professional juggler and went on to train extensively in circus skills in both New Zealand and Australia.
Chris has since performed to audiences nationwide at malls, festivals & stage shows, and in more recent times as part of the comedy circus duo “Morris & Morris”.

Johanna van Doorn (Jo)

After competing in a wide range of sports – triathlon, duathlon, cross country and marathon running, volleyball, and netball – I found CrossFit. I’m feeling fitter than I have done in years – the constant variation and focus on all dynamics of fitness has given me more confidence in myself and my body. I am stronger, faster and more flexible than I have ever been.

The community is what first attracted me to CrossFit Christchurch, and is what makes us stand out. The support and motivation I get from members at CrossFit Christchurch makes me train harder and pushes me to my limits.

I am passionate about helping people gain greater fitness, confidence, and all round health.

Qualifications:

          CrossFit Level 1 Coach
          BA in Psychology and English
First Aid certificate – Red Cross

Pat Kailey

Pat is a self-described fitness, outdoor sport, and science nerd. He grew up snowboarding, climbing, kayaking, tramping, in the mountains of Oregon, USA.

In 2007, he discovered Crossfit through an article in Skiing magazine and has been addicted ever since. He says the best thing about Crossfit is “that the movements, physical capacity, and mental toughness we train in Crossfit are applicable to whatever sport you do. It also becomes a sport in itself.”

The best thing about coaching? He says it’s “helping people rediscover movement. Teaching and motivating people to do things they the thought they’d never be able to do, whether that’s doing 1 pullup, or 50, or just running around the block.”

Pat is an instructor who strives to integrate balance training, play, and mobility work into each workout.

From Ju-Jitsu, skateboarding, sailing, orienteering, Triathlon, Athletics, kayaking, mountain biking, tramping, running, rugby, soccer, skiing to parachuting – The thing I love is the feeling of freedom and exhilaration that movement and exercise gives me.

I believe life is about fun, play, contribution, challenge & family. I found CrossFit 4 years ago and have found these values in our world-wide community.

I feel blessed to be living in Christchurch – and lucky to be sharing & helping build our community of CrossFitters here.

CrossFit has allowed me to exceed what I though was possible – I am fitter, stronger & more agile than when I was 20!

CrossFit is so simple, but powerful and rewarding- give it a go!
